Anoli Perera (b.1962, Colombo) took a degree in political science, economics and sociology at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka followed by a postgraduate diploma in International Affairs. She then lived in the USA between 1988 and 1992 where she followed ‘continuing art education programmes’ at Santa Barbara City College, California and the visual art school of Princeton, New Jersey. She currently works as a painter, sculptor and installation artist, based in Sri Lanka and New Delhi. Anoli Perera is a co-founder and a director of the Theertha International Artists Collective, a contemporary art initiative in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her works have been exhibited in Dhaka Art Summit, 2018; Serendipity Arts Festival, 2016; Colombo Art Biennale, 2009, 2012 & 2014; ‘Artful Resistance’ Museum of Anthropology, Vienna, Austria, 2009 and Museum der Weltkulturen, Frankfurt, German, 2010; Separating Myth from Reality (Art Festival), Siddhartha Gallery, Katmandu, Nepal , 2009; Asian Art Festival, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan, 2002; ‘Crafty Thoughts’, University of Liverpool Gallery, UK, 2002; 2nd Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale, Japan, 2002; amongst others. She received the Bunka Award in 1999, Special Achievement in Painting and Sculpture, Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Fund and in 1992, she received the Young Artist of the Year, Young Contemporaries exhibition, National Art Gallery, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
